Muhammad Yunus is the Chief Adviser of the Interim Government of Bangladesh, and as such the leader of 173 million people. As an economist who founded Grameen Bank, he is popularly known as the ‘Banker to the Poorest of the Poor,’ winning the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006 for pioneering the concepts of microcredit and microfinance which allowed impoverished communities to prosper through small, collateral-free loans. He has lifted millions of people out of poverty, particularly women. In 2024, His Excellency was chosen to lead Bangladesh at a transformative point in its modern history.
