Jeffrey Lehman has been Vice Chancellor of NYU Shanghai since the campus was established in China in 2012. Prior to his current position, he served as the 11th President of Cornell University (2003-2005), Dean of the University of Michigan Law School (1994-2003) and founding Dean of the Peking University School of Transnational Law. Mr Lehman was also Senior Scholar in Residence at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. A graduate of the University of Michigan, he was a Law Clerk for Chief Judge Frank Coffin of the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, later serving as President of the American Law Deans Association. He is a recipient of the Friendship Award of the People’s Republic of China. Mr. Lehman is one of only 40 foreign scientists, artists, educators and diplomats recognized for their pivotal contributions to China’s first 40 years of reform and opening-up.
