Lawrence Lau is the Ralph and Claire Landau Professor of Economics at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, having previously served as CUHK’s President and Vice Chancellor. A renowned economist with a specialization in East Asian economies including China, Professor Lau has held various academic roles at Stanford University, where he became a Professor of Economics in 1976 and the inaugural Kwok-Ting Li Professor in Economic Development in 1992. His newest book ‘Is the Chinese Economy a Miracle or a Bubble?’ was published in 2024 by the Chinese University of Hong Kong Press and Columbia University Press.
