Stephen Orlins is President of the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations, the non-profit organization that encourages understanding between people of the two countries. Prior, he was Managing Director of Carlyle Asia. From 1976 to 1979, he served in the Office of the Legal Advisor of the U.S. Department of State, where he was a member of the legal team that helped establish diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China. He graduated Harvard College magna cum laude and earned his law degree at Harvard Law School. He speaks Putonghua and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
